One Person’s Work is Another’s Fun

By Larry Dunivan

I was talking to a developer a couple of weeks ago as I was preparing for the HCM battle that took place yesterday at HR Technology.  I said to her that it didn’t seem fair that she did all of this hard, technical work, and I got to stand up in front of a large group of people, show it off, and (hopefully) take the credit!  She promptly pointed out that she had no interest whatsoever in being on that stage, and she was more than happy to have me do it.  And the look on her face told me that she meant it.

I’ll let the blogsphere decide who won yesterday, but I will say this — I spent 75 minutes on that stage showing off the work of a group of exceptionally talented people who have built some of the best HR software that I’ve seen in my 25 years in this industry.  And I could not have been more proud of it!

Oh, by the way:  if you missed the event, Knowledge Infusion (http://www.knowledgeinfusion.com/coe) did a nice job summarizing the salient points (and offered credit where credit is due).

Larry – I attended the battle and it’s safe to say that Lawson won. Hands down.

The Outlook integration that was displayed in the first topic stole the show. Nice work.

I got to say this… Though there are big brands out there in the market which could be mere hype. I was amazed to see how these small players such as Lawson were able to understand the end user requirements better and implemented in the applications… Congratulations Lawson… I liked your approach!!!

Larry: You did a great job at the HCM Battle. I was pleased, and if you’ll allow me to say, proud to have you up there. And all the people behind you should feel the same way. Not to mention your being such a mensch to thank them! Sunday night, you were crawling up Workday on the KI poll.
